Celebrating 8 Years of Melanie Abrantes Designs
Melanie technically started her business in LA December 2013. This is her first headshot at the community wood shop she was a part of in Los Angeles.
But she officially went full time when she moved to the Bay Area in April 2014 to open up her studio.
Melanie had her first photoshoot with Melanie Riccardi in 2015 and attended NY NOW with JOIN Design to sell her wares to wholesalers.
Melanie wrote a carving book, "Carve A Simple Guide to Whittling" that was published with Clarkson and Potter.
Melanie designed a cork bird hanger for JOIN Design's show at ICFF in 2017.
Our Tall Pedestal Bowl was featured in the NY Times Gift Guide in 2018.
We debuted the Marais Vases at London Design Week in 2019.
We started our subscription carving club Mel's Carving Club in 2020 after the huge influx of carvers that joined us!
We were featured in Good Morning America and asked to be a speaker in Forbes Women's Summit in 2021.
