Class Description:

In this online class, Melanie will teach you how to hand carve a wooden spoon using traditional Japanese tools and techniques. You’ll learn how to choose the right wood, understand the tools needed for spoon carving, and safely use carving techniques to shape your spoon.

The class will guide you step by step through carving the bowl with a spoon gouge, designing and whittling the handle, and refining the shape of your spoon. Once your final design is reached, you’ll learn how to sand and finish your spoon using an all-natural wood finish.

The class is designed to be completed at your own pace, with clear demonstrations and instructions you can follow from your own workspace. A carving kit is available separately with everything you need to get started, or you can use your own tools and materials.
